I almost forgot that Easter was upon us! Besides my husband not traveling for work thus working at home, my oldest at home from school and homeschooling him for a number of weeks now while still providing attention for the other two (one being 18 months), planning more meals than I ever have and being professional at social distancing, my husbands birthday is at the end of April and my son’s birthday is at the beginning of May- you can see how it was easy to forget about Easter coming so soon! But I think we have adjusted to the little bit we had to now.

This is a quick and easy pattern for those looking to complete something for Easter or even Spring.

20in x 20in finished

Piecing Column 1

Scant quarter inch (¼) seam allowance for all diagonal seams. | Quarter inch (¼) seam allowance for all others. Refer to the diagram above for any placement concerns.

I finger pressed all my seams and ironed at the end. Press seams at your discretion.

1. Use diagonal seams to sew pieces G to T; J to S. Sew H to A then to I. Press all seams, I pressed all seams open. Piece GT unit above the HAI unit, then above the JS unit. This forms the head of the rabbit.

2. Use diagonal seams to sew K to T, L to both S‘s and M to S. Press seams open.

3. Sew the MS unit to the right of the LSS unit. Press seam open. Sew the W piece to the left of your bunnies feet.

4. Your LSSMSW unit will be sewn under the KT unit. Press seam open. Sew piece V will be placed to the left of it. This forms the bunnies chest and feet.

5. Piece DQQ: On the 2- 2 ⅜ in. squares, draw a line 1¼ inches from a ‘designated top’. Then draw a diagonal line in the top section (see picture below). The diagonal line should be going in opposite directions of each other on the two squares. Sew on the diagonal line. This forms your bunny ear going straight up.

6. Sew piece P to the left of your bunny ear.

7. Use diagonal seams to sew the second P to E. Sew this PE unit to the right of your bunny ear.

8. Lay out your small blocks from steps 1, 4 and 8 to form Column 1.

Piecing Column 2

1. Use diagonal seams to sew F to both S‘s and U to E.

2. Piece R above FSS unit, then RFSS unit above UE unit.

3. Sew piece Z to the right of the RFSSUE unit. This forms the rest of the bunnies side ear and is basically the top half of Column 2.

4. Use diagonal seams to sew N to R and N to C.

5. Use diagonal seams to sew B to both S’s as well as O to Y.

How to line up: O and Y

6. Sew X above the BSS unit.

7. Sew XBSS unit right of NRC unit.

8. Piece XBSSNRC unit above OY unit. This will form the body and tail of the bunny and is basically the bottom half of Column 2.

To Finish …

Layout pieces from step 3 and 8 according to diagram above and piece together. Press seams.

Sew Column 1 and Column 2 together.

Ta – Da! Enjoy!
